Algebra II Helps and Tips

Algebra II Helps and TipsAlgebra II is very different from the algebra I help. Most of the work in Algebra II is done before you start solving the problems in Algebra I. That's the reason why it is essential that you have a solid foundation of algebra before you even try to solve Algebra II. The Pros & Cons of Applying Round 3 MBA Admissions

The Pros & Cons of Applying Round 3 MBA Admissions The following piece was written by Linda Abraham. Linda has been featured in ourAdmissions Expert seriesand is the President and Founder of Accepted.com. Should you apply Round 3 or wait to apply (or reapply) next year? As is usually the case in MBA admissions, it depends. Lets look at some of the pros and cons of applying to business school Round 3. Pros of Applying R3 1. Its your last shot at the class of 2015 If you have a class-of-2015-or-bust attitude, then R3 offers you a shot at getting in under the wire. While your chances of acceptance at most highly competitive programs do decrease as the rounds progress, you do still have a chance of getting in, and if the class of 2015 has your name written all over it, then you need to take this shot. 2. Later rounds are open to exceptional candidates You have a good shot at getting in R3 (or even R4 if you have that option) if you are a super impressive candidate. We keep talking about how hard it is to get into b-school in the later rounds, but obviously some people get in or there wouldnt be later rounds. So, if you have high stats, an intriguing diversity factor, impressive work experience, etc., then you should go for it these rounds are waiting for you. 3. Round 3 lets you fix mistakes you made in R1/R2 R3 gives you a second or third chance to try new MBA programs that are less competitive. You got dinged in R1 and R2 and learned from your mistakes; now its time to apply right to the right schools, and get in. 4. If you have the time and money, then you have nothing to lose Except for time and money (and potential heartbreak, which shouldnt be taken lightly!), you dont have much to lose from applying R3/R4. In fact, its possible that you have something to gain from the experience, even if you dont get in if you get feedback from your R3 dingers, then youll be better positioned to reapply next year. Cons of Applying R3 1. You may be rushed Many applicants apply R3 last minute after all, no one plans on getting rejected R1/R2 which means that you may not have the time you need to create a flawless application before the R3 buzzer. You need time to find the best possible recommenders, write a dazzling essay, and bulk up your work experience. Rule of thumb: A polished application next year is much better than a sloppy application R3. 2. You wont have time to retake the GMAT Dont apply Round 3 if youre not happy with your current GMAT score. Instead, spend the extra time studying and retaking the GMAT youll be better off applying R1 next year with a higher score. 3. Youll lack focus You may be so focused on getting your apps in before the seasons up that youll lose focus on why it is youre applying to b-school. One reason you may have been dinged in earlier rounds could have been your fuzzy goals. Get clarity, and then apply preferably Round 1 next year. 4. Funding options are low Just as your chances of acceptance decrease in later rounds, so do your chances of winning scholarships. If youre strapped for cash (like huge sums of tuition cash), then you may be better off waiting until Round 1 of next year so you can increase your chances of securing funds. If you are an international applicant, you should also think about the amount of time required to obtain a visa. VisitAccepted.comor find them onFacebookandTwitter. You’ll need to be able to tell the masterpieces of modern art apart. You’ll need to understand where contemporary art comes from â€" and how it draws its inspiration from the Italian Renaissance, say, or the Romanesque s tyles you’ll see. But, honestly, this whole enterprise is absolutely fascinating. It’s a ride through history as much as through aesthetics â€" as each style tends to reflect the different social and scientific concerns of its time. So, enjoy. And whilst we’re missing some â€" those prehistoric styles, say, those ones from the Paleolithic or Mesopotamia â€" there are enough here to get you going. And you can learn everything about sculpture here. When we get to the twentieth century then, we’ll drop the chronological structure and look at some of the major things going on â€" which were roughly contemporaneous to each other. So, let’s start â€" with Ancient Greece.Hellenistic Sculpture. As a bit of a disclaimer, the expression ‘Greek sculpture’ is necessarily going to be a generalisation: the civilizations that we refer to as ‘ancient Greece’ lasted between about the tenth century BC and 600AD. That’s sixteen hundred years. Things change a lot in that amount of time. The sculpture that we talk about when we talk about Greek sculpture is from the classical and Hellenistic periods. This means the fifth and fourth centuries BC, and the third, second, and first centuries BC respectively.Greek sculpture developed into idealised but naturalistic representations of people and deities in this period. Figu rative sculpture was the main concern, and people like Phidias are the big names.Find the best art courses near me here.Roman Sculpture.Often, Greek and Roman sculpture, the two major arts of the ancient world, are lumped together. This is because Roman art was heavily influenced by the Greeks (and most of the sculptors in Rome were actually Greek). However, the main difference is that, where Greece aimed for idealisation â€" making the perfect form of the thing sculpted â€" Rome was more deliberately representational. These guys preferred detail and historical events, rather than beauty for beauty’s sake.Equestrian Sculpture. This one is a bit out of place, but we should take a moment here to consider the equestrian statue as a discrete art form. Simply put, these are just guys on horses. However, the social significance of these is not to be understated. There are very few surviving equestrian statues from antiquity. Yet, they were used â€" and have been used ever since â€" to conv ey power and prestige. To make a life-size horse in bronze or white marble just required a huge amount of stuff. And this stuff has always been quite expensive. For a few examples, look at the Statue of Marcus Aurelius, Donatello’s Statue of Gattamelata, or Verrocchio’s Bartolomeo Colleoni. Equestrian statues are one of the most prestigious forms of sculptureReliefs, Carvings, and Architectural Sculpture.During the period between the fall of Rome and the beginning of the Renaissance, we don’t know a huge number of names of sculptors. However, we do know that their main concerns were in the decoration of religious institutions, including cathedrals, abbeys, and churches.Reliefs â€" in which sculptors would work on raising images from a flat background â€" and carvings were the main techniques used in this architectural sculpture. And we refer to this period (roughly 600 to 1200) as Romanesque or, later, Gothic art.Check out the Chartres Cathedral for an excellent example of gothic art.High Renaissance Sculpture. The Renaissance began in Italy, drawing on classical techniques and themes. Really, it changed the way we thought about art â€" and still has an influence to this day.Moving away from the religious concerns that dominated the art of the first millennium, it inst ead looked at the human figure, taking its knowledge and detail from the developments of science.Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Donatello are all names from this period.Mannerist Sculpture.Whilst High Renaissance sculpture valued naturalism, mannerism attended instead to artificiality and exaggerated beauty â€" all to compete with the sculptors of the preceding movement.Benvenuto Cellini’s Perseus with the Head of Medusa (from 1554) is one of the iconic sculptures of mannerism.Baroque Sculpture. And if Renaissance sculpture in general was concerned with a sense of stability, baroque, which followed, wanted to import dynamism and movement into sculpture. It was characterised by great decoration and energy.Gian Lorenzo Bernini is the name you need to know, as his sculptures, fountains, public art, and architectural projects transformed Rome in the seventeenth century.Rococo, or ‘Late Baroque’, was the extreme end of this movement. It was theatrical, incredibly detailed, and colourful. Bernini had a very distinctive style of sculptureNeoclassical Sculpture. As usually happens, history’s response to this movement was to return to simplicity. This is what neoclassical sculpture â€" obviously taking its name from the classical period â€" did in the eighteenth century.Antonio Canova was the main figure in this movement, returning to the principles of design of ancient art.Modernist Sculpture. At the turn of the twentieth century, painters, musicians, writers, and sculptors were galvanised by a different way of doing art. This was what was known as modernism and, for the arts, it was a colossal break from tradition. In sculpture, the primary figure in this movement was Auguste Rodin, who introduced an impressionistic quality into sculpture. He threw away the sharp lines and chiselled features and focused on a realism, rather than an idealism. A famous work of his is The Thinker. His student, Constantin Brancusi, was also hugely influential. His outdoor sculpture and more abstract sculptures had a massive influence on the modern and contemporary artists that followed.Learn more about famous sculpture artists! The iconic Chicago sculpture, the Cloud GateThe Variety of Contemporary Sculptural Types.Contemporary sculpture is hugely multifaceted, incredibly diverse, and unbound from the strict rules that characterised art sculpture up until the nineteenth century. This is because the boundaries of what art and sculpture are have been pushed by artists throughout this period. Here are some of the directions in which sculpture has been pushed in recent years. They can’t really be detailed chronologically, as many are contemporaneous.Find out more about the most famous sculptures.Assemblage / Found Objects.Started by the likes of Pablo Picasso and the Dadaists in the first half of the twentieth century, assemblages are thought of as collages but in three dimensions. These developed out of an artistic interest in ‘found objects’ â€" items usually used for quite different purposes, but, in these cases described and presented as art.Marcel Duchamp’s famous Fountain (1917) is one of the most o riginal versions of this. The artwork is a urinal bought from a hardware and placed on a pedestal. At the time, this piece posed fascinating questions about the nature of art.Abstract Sculpture.Abstract sculpture came primarily out of the work of Brancusi, one of the fathers of modernist sculpture. Rather than figurative art, which sought to represent to greater or lesser degrees of details an object, abstract art did away with the concern for representation.Brancusi’s work was all about ‘essences’, the simplest possible forms of things. It was hugely influential, inspiring artists like Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, and Alberto Giacometti.Land Art.An incredibly ambitious and monumental style of contemporary sculpture is what is known as land art. This seeks to create sculpture and art out of the land itself.Take a look at Robert Smithson’s piece Spiral Jetty in the Great Salt Lake in Utah, or Charles Jencks’s Landform in Edinburgh.Kinetic Sculpture.Art historians like to argue. And one such argument in the art world regards the start of the movement or kinetic art. Generally, it’s agreed now that it was the brainchild of Naum Gabo, whose Kinetic Construction has been the inspiration for many.Kinetic art describes works that use movement in their construction and form. In almost any art museum, you’ll find an example of this style.Find the best places to see sculpture!

While these cost the most per session, you'll also probably see the quickest results from these types of tutorials.Online tutorials are similar with the main difference being that your person al trainer near me isn't there with you but rather conducting the tutorial via webcam. While these types of tutorials are better for academic subjects, there are fitness tutors offering tutorials via webcam. These also tend to be cheaper than face-to-face tutorials since the tutor has fewer overheads to worry about. Finally, group tutorials are more like traditional fitness classes with one instructor and several attendees. These are usually the cheapest type of private fitness tutorial since the cost of the tutor's time will be shared amongst all the members of the class. However, this also means that the lessons aren't tailored to a single student and while the tutor will do their best to help you, they won't be able to dedicate every minute of the class to you.

7 Tips For Leading People When Youre Introverted - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / 7 Tips For Leading People When Youre Introverted - Introvert Whisperer 7 Tips For Leading People When Youre Introverted In many ways, life is better for introverts than it’s ever been before. If you’d rather stay at home and be alone than socialize, you can still stay entertained and engaged through the internet. There’s also a lot more understanding of how different people thrive in different environments, even extending to the workplace: remote working is vastly more comfortable for many. All that said, there’s still an immense need for leadership in the business world, and there’s every chance that the responsibility might fall upon someone introverted â€" like you. And if you’re the best person for the job, and you’re committed to the business, then you’ll want to find a way to see it through without letting yourself or others down. This is easier said than done, of course, and it’s understandable if you need a little help. Here are 7 tips to help you be an effective leader as an introvert: Be honest about your preferences The first thing you should do is make it clear to everyone you’re leading that you’re an introvert. Don’t succumb to the temptation to pretend that you’re always happy to be around others, however much you think it’s what everyone wants from a leader. It can be great to have a leader who’ll gladly join you for drinks, but it can also be great to have a leader who gives you space. Besides, you’re allowed to be bad at some things: if you’ve assembled a great team, then their strengths will be able to cover for your weaknesses (and you can do the same for them). Delegate tasks sensibly Trying to do everything yourself is a terrible idea for a leader regardless, but it’s particularly bad when you’re an introvert, because you’ll rapidly run out of energy and motivation. When you start to delegate tasks to the people working under you, prioritize offloading anything that will make you feel uncomfortable. For instance, though leaders typically handle sales meetings, you might not be the best person for the job â€" so if someone on your team is a great fit, let them try. Use varied communication tools Different introverts are exhausted by different things. Some people can’t handle spoken conversation for very long but are fine with answering emails, while others have the opposite problem. What gives you the most anxiety? Communication is essential, and if you mix up your methods (using various tools) you should find that you don’t get exhausted as quickly or easily. Focus on one-on-one meetings You’re likely going to struggle in big team meetings, but you don’t always need to hold meetings like that. Instead, you can stagger one-on-one meetings â€" that way, you’ll be able to feel more relaxed (with fewer distractions and less pressure), and you’ll have the opportunity to speak more candidly. You won’t be able to get rid of team meetings altogether, but if you can keep them to a minimum, it will be a huge help. Plan your talking points As noted, from time to time you’ll need to hold team meetings. Cohesion is important, and you set the tone for how everyone works together, so being able to step up and give an inspiring speech is an important element of leadership. However, since introversion is more about social interaction, you can simply deliver a planned set of talking points. That way, you won’t get distracted, and you’ll be able to concentrate on the content (and not the people listening). Listen very carefully Discomfort stemming from introversion makes it hard to talk comfortably, but it doesn’t stop you from listening â€" and that’s exactly what you should do. When you’re relatively quiet, you open up opportunities for the people on your team to talk, and make them feel less inhibited. This is a great thing: it’s common in business for workers to worry about what their bosses will say, so getting people to speak freely is invaluable. Listen closely, and use what you learn to improve. Schedule some alone time Finally, no matter how important your job as a leader may be, your mental health must come first. You may need to postpone meetings, cancel trips, or (in the worst-case scenario) let a prospective client walk away, but ensure that you get enough time to relax and recharge. After all, if you hit the point of burnout, it won’t benefit anyone. Being an introverted leader will always be challenging, and you’ll likely never feel totally comfortable â€" but that’s alright. Your team will understand, and if you let them help you, you’ll be able to achieve great things together.

Rounding Word Problems

Rounding Word Problems Rounding numbers coverts large numbers and decimal numbers to simpler forms which are then useful to solve or express in a given question. This concept is commonly used in many word problem and different calculations. Rounding to the tenths place is rounding of a decimal number to the nearest one decimal space. Rounding to the hundredths place is rounding a decimal number to the nearest two decimal spaces. Rounding to the thousandths place is rounding a decimal number to the nearest three decimal spaces and so on. Example 1: The price of each book is $ 15.78. If the shopkeeper sold 13 copies. Find the total money earned by the shopkeeper. Solution: Price of each book = $ 15.78. Number of copies sold by the shopkeeper = 13. The money earned by the shopkeeper = 13 * 15.78 = $ 205.14. Rounding the decimal number to the nearest whole number. Hence the money earned by the shopkeeper = $ 205. Example 2: There are 15 children in the class. 7 of them buy cupcakes and the remaining buy cookies. Each cookie costs $ 1.89 and cupcake costs $2.24. How much did the class spend (round to a whole number)? Solution: Price of each cookie = $ 1.89. Price of each cupcake = $ 2.24. Confidence and Math Performance Equals Success in the Classroom and Beyond - Heart Math Tutoring

Confidence and Math Performance Equals Success in the Classroom and Beyond - Heart Math Tutoring Confidence and Math Performance Equals Success in the Classroom and Beyond Confidence and Math Performance Equals Success in the Classroom and Beyond March 29, 2016 By Emily Elliott, Executive Director of Heart Math Tutoring Our tutors move the dial on students’ success in math. Half of their role is to deliver the math curriculum, and half is to be a positive influence. In our program, we measure students’ growth in math skills and academic confidence and/or enthusiasm. This article from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) suggests the two are connected. According to PISA, students’ belief that they can solve math problems (mathematics “self-efficacy”) is associated with a difference in math skills and the difference is equivalent to a full year of schooling. Factors impacting self-efficacy (and math performance) are: How often students encountered similar tasks Parents holding ambitious expectations (For example, the belief that the student is going to college impacts student math self-efficacy and thus math performance.) Furthermore, economically disadvantaged students are typically less confident in their ability to solve mathematics problems, even when comparing students who have similar math abilities. According to PISA, “Schools and families can help students to develop a mastery of mathematics by exposing them to a variety of mathematics problems while providing encouragement and support as they work to solve them.” Our tutors expose students to math tasks that push students’ understanding, while acting as cheerleaders, patiently waiting for the student to discover a solution. Each Heart student begins to believe that math makes sense, and that he/she is able to figure it out. Through our program, 91% of teachers saw an increase in students’ confidence towards math. In addition, 96% of our tutors believe they had a positive influence on students’ confidence about and understanding of math. Math games and activities from Heart’s curriculum can be reinforced at home. By inviting parents to be volunteers, attending school-wide curriculum nights, and hosting parent education events, we create opportunities to for parents to be involved and to provide encouragement for their children. It takes a strong team to work towards success for the children Heart serves. From our staff, volunteer tutors, school administrators and teachers to parents and funding partners, together we are helping kids develop a strong foundation for math and enthusiasm for academics to ensure long-term success.

Tony D Maths, Science and English Tutor in London

Tony D Maths, Science and English Tutor in London Tony D is privides top maths tuition, science tuition and English tuition in London. He can also help out with website design and/or construction. Tony is an approachable, friendly tutor who often uses humour to approach topics that pupils find challenging. So let’s find out a bit more about him: Why do you love tutoring? I have always liked to be helpful.  My children call it the Sir Galahad Dad behaviour.  Providing help without being invited can be challenging or dangerous e.g. as a Dad advising his son, only wearing a T shirt, that he’s not properly dressed for the blizzard outside . . .  he might receive abuse, perhaps from embarrassment. As a tutor my help has always been invited, and it is a delight to help children succeed. Who inspired you in education? My father - I come from a family of teachers.  My father achieved excellent 11+ results and, in his last years as curriculum master of a new comprehensive, achieved English and Mathematics O levels (the old GCSEs) for every child.  I use some of his methods. What else do you get up to besides tutoring? I am a Granddad so family is very important although mine is distributed widely across the globe. I enjoy: ·                Reading - often scientific or computing material ·                Conversation rather than chit chat ·                Good food, wine and company ·                Managing a 10-acre ancient wood to encourage dormice ·                Downhill skiing too quickly for someone my age ·                Bow ties If you had a super power what would it be? I would like to be able to give people the power to understand each other. Not only would this be a helpful tool for a tutor but it could lead to a kinder and more peaceful world. What advice would you give to a parent on how to find a tutor? I believe that tutoring requires a clinical approach: that is, the ‘treatment’ must be carefully matched to the ‘patient’.  I suggest a similar approach to choosing a doctor - recommendations and desk-side manner.  Ask to speak to parents of previous students rather than just read a reference. Be really critical on your first meeting with the tutor - can you, will you be friends with this tutor?
